Overview: What is Ropeless Fishing?
Designed specifically for pot trap fishing applications, Ropeless Fishing technology removes traditional surface buoys and rope from the water column and stows them safely on the seafloor along with the pot traps.
Acoustic sonar will transmit a signal when the fishing vessel is back onsite and ready to haul the fishing gear. This signal will trigger an acoustic release mechanism so that hard float buoys will carry the rope to the surface and the traps may be hauled. You can use one of our STM Deckboxes to activate activate the acoustic release.
Ropeless Fisher™ not only reduces the possibility of wildlife entangles, it also reduces annual gear loss rate and protects against poaching and vandalism.
Operating at depths up-to 300m, Ropeless Fisher also offers a fully functional virtual/acoustic gear marking package, custom release bag options/kits, and a ranging acoustic release with a lifetime use of 15-20 years.

1. Acoustic Release
The release mechanism which sits on the side of a release bag. Trigger a release remotely via a sonar transducer. The ARC release mechanism triggers and releases within fractions of a second and is re-armed in less than one minute.

The release mechanism which sits on the side of a release bag. Trigger a release remotely via a sonar transducer. The ARC release mechanism triggers and releases within fractions of a second and is re-armed in less than one minute.
3. Virtual Gear Marking
The Ropeless Fisher App™ allows for free virtual gear marking to avoid gear overlay. A fisher simply presses a button and the app logs GPS coordinates. You can also set a "visibility radius", if someone is outside of it, they cannot see your gear locations.
4. STM Deckbox
Activates the Acoustic Release with just the flick of a switch! Activate Broadcast Mode to release your buoy right before you arrive.
Broadcast Release Mode
Broadcast Release mode will trigger the release of all your traps once within range to allow for hauling and re-baiting as you move along down the line.
All systems have fisher specific ID code so only YOUR traps will trigger and not other Ropeless Fishers in the area.

Individual Release Mode
Individual Release mode is designed so only one release is triggered (by serial number) when activated, allowing for fishing in high currents or hauling and re-deploying the fishing gear before moving on to the next.
