Knowing Your Modes

Every 32 seconds, the SeaTag will blink with an indication of which Mode it is currently in.

SAFE SHIPPING MODE

When shipped to you, the SeaTag will be in this mode. It should also be transitioned back into this mode prior to     long-distance traveling with the tag; especially by air.

Red can also mean Report Mode; which is also safe to ship.

ARMED MODE

This is the mode that you will transition to after physically arming the kinetic release mechanism. You would use     this Mode to store armed tags in a darkened container until the day of (or day before) it's time for tagging. Once     in ARMED Mode, it must be stored in a completely dark container for at least two hours. After that, it will     naturally transition into OnFish Mode (and begin the mission timer) once it sees light again. You can also avoid     the two hour wait, by simply using the below mentioned way to transition modes, to jump straight into OnFish     Mode.

ONFISH MODE

The tag will naturally transition into this mode after being exposed to light after at least 2 hours of darkness,     while in the ARMED Mode. This is the Mode that will begin the mission timer and will carry the tag through the     duration of its mission.

If left in OnFish mode, it will naturally fall into Report Mode after the mission completes, even if you never got the tags on the fish.

Transitioning Modes

Mode Order

The order in which modes occur, is much like an elevator. When it reaches the “end”, it goes back the way it came, instead of making a loop, like so:

Safe Shipping Mode → ARMED Mode → OnFish Mode

Safe Shipping Mode ← ARMED Mode ← OnFish Mode

The method for changing the modes between ANY mode to ANY other mode is the same. The only exception is the optional method to use the 2 hours of darkness to go from the ARMED Mode to the OnFish Mode

LED Location

In order to identify which mode you are in, you must observe the LED lights on the SeaTag. On the SeaTag-3D, they are located at the top.
